Advanced Visualization Lab

At SC'02, the UITS Advanced Visualization Lab will be showcasing a variety of applications that demonstrate the benefits of extremely high-resolution displays such as the IBM T221. These applications were developed in conjunction with Indiana University researchers and educators, and include:

  • a pedigree tree visualization tool to interactively render and query very large pedigree databases (UITS/AVL (INGEN) and Medical and Molecular Genetics - IU School of Medicine)
  • a remote rendering framework for high-quality volume rendering from a thin client system (UITS/AVL, IU School of Dentistry, and IUPUI Computer Science)
  • an application for visualizing and querying very large, sparse 2D matrices (UITS/AVL and IU-Bloomington Computer Science)
  • a suite of highly-accurate astronomical visualization tools (Solar Journey Project: IU-Bloomington Computer Science and University of Chicago Astronomy.)
  • a scalable molecular visualization tool for representing crystallographic and bio-molecular structures (UITS/AVL and IU-Bloomington Chemistry)
