An Architecture for Distributed, Knowledge-based Performance Support

The increased power and reach of network-centric naval forces provides us the capacity to present online systems support information. The problem is that this information is merely an electronic version of the traditional paper manual and knowledge sharing is not achieved. The next generation information resource capabilities must capture and make available knowledge and present the right information at the right time. The system under development combines advances in distributed query agents for information acquisition from multiple, geographically distributed data sources, case-based reasoning and concept maps for information fusion and decision making, and scalable user-aware interfaces for presenting information and recording actions in real time.
