Laboratory for Computational Life Sciences (LCLS)

The Laboratory for Computational Life Sciences is a group headed by Prof. Jesus Izaguirre of Notre Dames CSE Department to develop high performance computational software packages from which biocomputational applications can be built. These include two major packages, both of which are available from the web. ProtoMol is an efficient high performance object-oriented software framework for supporting novel algorithms in molecular dynamics. CompuCell is a multi-model framework for simulation of early development of multicellular organisms (morphogenesis) that models the interaction of the genetic regulatory network. The simulation includes cell differentiation, cell growth, mitosis and cytokinesis, secretion of morphogens, and growth of the chick limb.

Materials to be available include posters (both real and virtual) summarizing these packages.
