Data-centric Computing

New forms of research and creative activity are emerging that rely on the analysis of massive amounts of data to make new discoveries, to preserve critical cultural assets, and to broaden the availability of knowledge. Indiana University researchers are developing a comprehensive response to the unsolved problems on the frontiers of data-centric computing. Using the analysis of decades of scholarly publications, School of Library and Information Science researchers are developing new maps of knowledge to chart the landscape of scientific research. University technologists are working with the State of Indiana to develop new geographic information systems that will benefit both researchers and the public. The Digital Library Program is working to preserve critical cultural assets to enrich and celebrate the creative activities of Indiana's citizens. Working with partners from corporate and scholarly communities, Indiana University is making possible new kinds of inquiry and understanding that are not possible today.
